An American Summer | North Carolina Photographer | Alicia Q. Photography

. If I haven't made it clear, let it be known that I absolutely LOVE living in North Carolina.  The weather is completely unpredictable but that's no bother to me because the scenery is gorgeous.  When you are born and raised in Southern California, you have no real concept of TREES.  And here, in Jacksonville, oh my goodness, there are TREES of plenty!  I love living in a forest-- and I could ramble on and on about how picturesque the Intracoastal Waterway is.  Why would anyone want to live anywhere else??

This summer my son and I will be sharing our time on both coasts, but we are definitely trying to make the most of our time in North Carolina.  We have spent many days exploring everything this part of the country has to offer-- and we've even made a couple of short road trips to do some sightseeing.

While I'd like to take credit for the inspiration for this blog post, I have to admit the motivation to share some of our summer photos is due mostly to an awesome BLOG CIRCLE I'm a part of with some fellow photographers.  This month's theme is "summer", so I'm sharing our American Summer so far. Next in the BLOG CIRCLE is MnM Family Photography!  Click on her link and when you're done checking out her post, click on the link to the next photographer in the circle :)

Up first in our American Summer, Fort Macon, which is just about an hour north of us in Atlantic Beach.  My nephew is here visiting from San Diego and we're having fun showing him around :)

Up next, 24 short hours in Washington, D.C. with a very tired and grumpy 4-year-old.

The next day, after exploring our nation's Capitol, we headed to Arlington National Cemetery where my husband's friend Chris is buried.  Chris passed away almost 2 years ago and at the time, my husband was deployed on a MEU and was unable to attend the memorial and funeral.  Arlington is a pretty powerful place, obviously-- but it's even more powerful when you're there to visit a loved one.
